There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!
School Spotlight: Wofford College
If your idea of the quintessential college includes DI athletics, vibrant Greek life, and a liberal arts college dedicated to the undergraduate experience, look no further than Wofford College. This classic college is home to 1,670 students, the ideal size for students seeking to form close, meaningful relationships with their professors and peers. The College offers majors in everything from accounting to theatre, although unique interdisciplinary concentrations – such as medicine & the liberal arts and computational science – are also available. All Wofford students must complete a series of broad-based general education courses, but it’s possible to satisfy these requirements in creative ways. Consider joining the classical guitar group for the fine arts requirement, enrolling in “Introduction to Sustainability Science” for the science requirement, or studying “Chinese Culture Through Film” for the cultures and peoples requirement. If you happen to be touring colleges in the South, be sure to stop by Wofford to experience some of the exciting cultural events taking place both on campus and off in the historical college town of Spartanburg. Earlier this month, presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg spoke to Wofford students, faculty, and staff in a special town hall meeting, while in November, award winning poet Morri Creech will be visiting the College to read and discuss his poetry.
