There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!

School Spotlight: Washington University in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO

One of the nation’s preeminent research universities, WashU offers its 7,500 undergraduates stellar programs in business, science, and the arts. With 24 University-affiliated Nobel laureates and 67 percent of undergrads participating in community service, WashU is committed to teaching, research, and service to others. Among the school’s 100 majors are programs in archeology (complete with hands-on fieldwork experience at an excavation site somewhere across the globe); fashion design (that culminates in the annual WashU Fashion Design Show); and health care management (one of eight concentrations available through the Olin School of Business). Business majors have the unique opportunity to begin their professional studies in their very first semester on campus, making WashU one of the few selective 4-year business programs in the U.S. Exceptional undergraduates of any major may be eligible for a full tuition scholarship (worth nearly $49,000 in 2016). After submitting your Common Application, be sure to complete the appropriate scholarship application via WashU Pathway! Fun fact: WashU supports 19 varsity sports (DIII) and 39 club sports, including archery, equestrian, and triathlon. Women’s volleyball has garnered an impressive 10 NCAA national championships!
