School Spotlight: University of Tampa

There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!

School Spotlight: University of Tampa
Tampa, FL

Since transitioning from a junior college to a four-year university in 1933, the University of Tampa has grown exponentially and its student body has greatly diversified. From serving only Florida residents to enrolling 9,600 students from all 50 states and 132 countries, Tampa’s star continues to rise. UT has experienced major growth in terms of its facilities, too. In the past two decades, the university has invested nearly $400 million in renovations and construction, including an athletic and intramural complex that is home to the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams. International Business, Biology, Environmental Studies, and Finance are some of UT’s most popular majors. High achieving freshmen may be invited to participate in the school’s interdisciplinary honors program, which boasts access to research scholarships, enrichment tutorials, and the incredible opportunity to study for a semester at the University of Oxford. Fun fact: there are about 1,000 internships offered annually to UT students, including valuable hands-on experiences at ESPN Radio, Tampa General Hospital, the Florida Aquarium, and the FBI.
