I came to College Coach after working for many years in college admissions and high school counseling. As a school counselor, I assisted students in the college application process and wrote hundreds of letters of recommendation, while also helping them and their families cope with any emotional, social, and academic concerns throughout the year. I transitioned from the high school setting to the admissions office when I joined the University of Southern California as an assistant director, reading freshmen and transfer applications and collaborating on admission decisions for over 150 majors, including the liberal arts, engineering, business, cinema, and the fine and performing arts. I subsequently took on the role of senior assistant director in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, where I coordinated the division's Mork, Stamps, Trustee, Presidential and Dean's merit scholarship selection process, as well as recruitment publications and outreach, and traveled everywhere from Honolulu to Miami presenting to and interviewing hundreds of applicants each year.

School Spotlight: Franklin & Marshall College Lancaster, PA Many liberal arts colleges boast small student-to-faculty ratios and supportive campus communities. But how many also feature top-notch science programs, self-governing residential houses, and unique professional development opportunities to prepare students for life after college? Enter Franklin & Marshall, located 90 minutes west of Philadelphia and home to a passionate group of around 2,280 students. Named after benefactor Benjamin Franklin, F&M offers outstanding science programs in everything from animal behavior and bioinformatics to neuroscience and public health. Research opportunities abound, and research grants make it easy for students to pursue special projects in a range of academic fields. Nearly all F&M students live on campus, and they can choose from a wide range of options. Freshmen live in one of five College Houses that merge academic and residential life, while upperclass students can choose from theme and special interest houses (such as the Arts House or the Wellness/Substance Free House), or fraternity and sorority houses. Nearly thirty percent of students participate in varsity athletics. In addition to football, squash, and wrestling, the Diplomats compete in women’s lacrosse and men’s golf, which have won 12 and 15 conference championships, respectively.
