There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!

School Spotlight: Drexel University
Philadelphia, PA

Career-driven students who are passionate about receiving a practical, hands-on education should look no further than Drexel University. As a sponsor one of the nation’s most comprehensive co-op programs, Drexel offers pre-professional students the chance to intern at more than 1,700 companies around the world. The average six-month salary for co-op students is over $17,000; perhaps that’s one of the reasons why more than 98 percent of eligible students complete a co-op at Drexel! Drexel’s 16,500 undergraduates can major in more than 70 different disciplines, or select one of over 20 accelerated degree programs, including combined BA or BS programs in law, medicine, business, education, or engineering. Talented students seeking challenges beyond their major or career focus will find a wealth of resources in the Pennoni Honors College. In addition to undergraduate research opportunities, the Honors College gives curious students access to an honors-only living/learning community; semi-annual TED Talk lunches; and free tickets to shows, performances, and sporting events in Philadelphia through “Ticket Tuesday.” Fun fact: student researchers know it’s okay to be geeky at University-sponsored “Nerd Nights,” where students give short talks about the studies that fascinates them.
