Learn More About College Coach
There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges, including this week’s School Spotlight, Prescott College. Students who are passionate about the environment and social justice who are also looking for a unique liberal arts education ought to consider Prescott College. With BA, BS, and BFA degrees available in programs such as adventure education, dance, and ecopsychology, Prescott offers a challenging and personalized experience to the approximately 325 undergraduates enrolled here. Field trips are common in classes across all disciplines and are an ideal way for students to take advantage of the breathtaking beauty in central Arizona. Some courses might include a backpacking expedition across the Colorado Plateau, visits to local museums and art galleries, or overnight excursions in the field. Like many progressive colleges, Prescott encourages all students to design their own majors. By selecting courses such as Maps & Wilderness Navigation, Environmental Ethics, and Art & Social Change, students can build academic programs that are tailored to their individual interests. Grades here are also optional. Instead, all students receive written evaluations from their professors that compliment self-reflective student narratives. Prescott was founded in the 1960s to produce leaders who would be prepared to solve the world’s environmental and social challenges. If you’re ready for an adventure unlike any other, Prescott awaits you!
