Learn More About College Coach
There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges, including this week’s School Spotlight, DePaul University. As the country’s largest Catholic university, DePaul University also happens to be one of the most diverse. Approximately 40 percent of undergraduates are students of color, and over 75 different countries are represented on campus. 14,500 undergrads come to DePaul to study everything from animation and astrophysics to special education and sports communication. With strong programs in accounting and finance, the College of Business is the most popular undergraduate destination. Whether students are based on the Lincoln Park Campus or the downtown Loop Campus, the city of Chicago becomes one of your primary classrooms. All first year students have the chance to engage with the city thanks to the Chicago Quarter, a special first year-only class that introduces students to the ins and outs of the Windy City. With courses like “Chicago & Jazz,” “The Chicago Economy at Work,” and “Natural Chicago by Bicycle,” it’s easy to fall in love with your new home away from home. With its Vincentian heritage, DePaul places a strong emphasis on community engagement and social justice. Through the Steans Center, students can enroll in service-learning courses, pursue volunteering internships, and apply for special community service scholarships.
