I joined College Coach after many years in independent school and college admissions. Over the course of a decade, I worked in admissions at three independent schools in the Boston area. Later, I earned my master’s degree in education while working part-time in MIT’s undergraduate admissions office.
After graduating, I spent a year as an outside reader reviewing hundreds of applications for the University of Virginia, where I read applications for all majors within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Most recently, I worked in the undergraduate admissions office at Brandeis University, where I managed first-year and transfer selection processes, athletic recruitment, and awarding fellowships and merit aid. In addition, I volunteered annually with Scholar Match, guiding high school students through the college application process. Through this work I learned to meet each student where they are in the college search process and provide clear guidance and support.
High school planning starts earlier than many families realize. Beyond the neighborhood public school, options may include independent, parochial, vocational, and magnet schools. Families can explore programs, visit open houses, and consider their student's interests, learning style, and goals before making enrollment decisions.
