University of Georgia | Alexa Flash Briefing

There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges, including this week’s School Spotlight, University of Georgia. What university claims the distinction of being the first state-chartered university in the country? Which university’s athletic teams have earned 29 national DI championships since 2000? Which university has graduated 7 Rhodes Scholars in the last 20 years, and 99 Fulbright Scholars in the previous 10? It’s none other than the University of Georgia! Whether you’re interested in studying finance, computer science, international affairs, or journalism, you’ll be able to study what you love together with nearly 29,000 other undergraduates at UGA. Approximately 10-15 percent of students who are admitted early action will be invited to join the University’s robust honors program, where small classes, special opportunities for undergraduate research, and even graduate-level coursework is made available to this select group of high achievers. As amazing as the city of Athens is, UGA students are eager to spend time abroad in one of the University’s 170 study abroad or exchange programs. In addition to sponsoring traditional academic programs, the University also provides resources for students to pursue international work, internship, and volunteer experiences overseas. Fun fact: Teach for America, Delta Airlines, and the Walt Disney Company are among the top employers of recent UGA grads.
