There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!
School Spotlight: Ohio Northern University
It’s rare to find a small university that can offer excellent programs in the both liberal arts and pre-professional studies. With approximately 2,300 undergrads, Ohio Northern University boasts five academic colleges and encourages its students to pursue coursework across all of them. Within the College of Arts & Sciences, students can engage in the study of biology, construction management, or musical theatre, while the College of Business features respected programs in healthcare business and accounting. The College of Engineering recently shared some exciting news: the University will soon be constructing a brand new $15 million engineering building with state-of-the-art research labs, project design space, and flexible classroom technology. Engineering students, who are drawn to ONU’s hands-on and high-impact programs, can also take advantage of a five-year cooperative program that integrates academic studies with paid work experiences. Located in a small town in northwestern Ohio, ONU has more to offer than just first-rate academics. The University’s engaged and spirited student body enjoys getting involved in a range of activities, from DIII athletics and Greek life to community service and the performing arts. And as an affiliate of the Methodist Church, there are plenty of opportunities for spiritual growth, as well.
