School Spotlight: Hendrix College

There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!

School Spotlight: Hendrix College
Conway, AR

What exactly is a pecan court? Visit Hendrix College this spring and you’ll be sure to find out. Located on 175 park-like acres approximately 30 minutes from Little Rock, Hendrix is a private, liberal arts college that features an innovative and hands-on program called Odyssey. All students are required to complete at least three Odyssey credits, which can be fulfilled through specific classes, involvement in certain co-curricular activities, independent research, study abroad, and more. By encouraging undergrads to personalize their education with special projects, students regularly go beyond classroom learning to enhance both their college experience and their résumés as well. Although Hendrix enrolls just over 1,300 students, it has national appeal. The majority of students come from out-of-state, and they are known for being open-minded, politically aware, and committed to social justice. It’s a common theme for members of Colleges that Change Lives! Hendrix offers 34 majors and 39 minors, with programs ranging from creative writing and environmental studies, to neuroscience and theatre arts. Good to know: 100 percent of students receive some form of financial aid at Hendrix, and the average financial aid award is over $100,000 for four years.
